Clove Ai vs Wallet by BudgetBakers: bank-fed or hand-fed
Written by the Clove Ai team. Published: . Updated: . Last verified:
Wallet by BudgetBakers connects to banks and syncs across Android, iOS and web. Clove Ai, the expense tracker app for Android, never connects to a bank and instead turns typed or spoken sentences and receipts into entries. The choice is mostly about whether you want transactions to arrive on their own.
Wallet is a widely used budgeting app on Android. It is built around bank connection, which is the opposite of Clove Ai's choice. We are the Clove Ai team, so verify the facts below. We read each page on 22 October 2026.

What is the same
Both support several currencies, both let you import or enter data by hand, and both list Indonesian as a language. Both also offer a web app tied to your account.
What differs
- Bank connection. Wallet says it connects to over 15,000 banks worldwide; whether your Indonesian bank is among them we did not check. Clove Ai never connects to a bank, so every entry comes from you.
- Price clarity. Wallet's website says it has a free tier and Premium in monthly, yearly and lifetime plans, but gives no amounts; the App Store listing shows several in-app purchase prices without naming the plans. Clove Ai's price is on its FAQ and Play page.
- Entry. Wallet lists manual entry, bank updates and file import (CSV, XLS, OFX). Clove Ai lists typing, talking and scanning, with an editable card you confirm.
- Receipts. Receipt scanning is not stated on the Wallet pages we checked.
- Languages. Wallet's App Store listing shows 48 languages including Indonesian; Clove Ai supports 32, also including Indonesian. On language alone, neither is a problem for readers in Indonesia.
What a year costs
Cost is hard to compare because Wallet's website gives no amounts. Clove Ai is $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year, so $29.99 for a year on the yearly plan. For Wallet, check the purchase screen in the app for the price in your country. Check whether the price you see covers the bank connection you want, and whether it is a subscription or the lifetime plan, before you compare it with a yearly price.
The privacy trade-off
A bank connection saves typing and costs you a link to your bank through a third party. Not connecting costs you the typing. Clove Ai chose the second: it never asks for bank logins or card numbers. The guide on expense tracking without a bank connection covers what you gain and lose.
Who each is best for
- Wallet suits you if you want transactions pulled in automatically, use several devices including iOS, and your bank is supported.
- Clove Ai suits you if you would rather enter lines yourself in plain words, want no bank link, and like a pay-cycle score.
Where Clove Ai is not the best fit
If hands-off tracking matters most, Wallet is the better fit, and so is any app with a working bank link in your country. Clove Ai is paid only, Android and web only for now, and has no bank connection. If you move from Wallet, import its CSV export into Clove Ai and check the preview.
